CHOC BERRY SMOOTHIE

SMOOTHIES!!! For about a month now all I have been craving for breakfast is a smoothie!! I’m guessing it’s probably due to the fact that we are having a very hot summer in Melbourne (which I’m loving) and thus can’t wait to have something cold and refreshing to drink after my workout! They are also so easy to make and really good for those days you are in a mad rush!

I love to change up my smoothie combinations each day depending on my mood, but I do have to say that this smoothie in particular is one of my all time favourites. There is just something about combining berries and chocolate, which seem to create the most amazing taste… I had this for breakfast today and will most likely have it for breakfast again tomorrow 🙈.

Just on a side note, I have included protein powder in this recipe because I workout at least 5 days a week and need my muscles to repair quite quickly in order to maintain my active lifestyle. Personally, I really feel that adding this extra protein supplement into my smoothie at the beginning of the day aids in achieving my fitness goals (and it also tastes so good!!). However, please don’t feel you need to add protein into your smoothies if you don’t want to. If you decide not to, you may want to add more coconut yoghurt and berries instead to help bulk up the smoothie and keep you feeling fuller for longer.

INGREDIENTS:

✦ 1 cup of almond milk

✦ 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries

✦ 1 scoop of Happy Way berry protein powder (*optional). NOTE: If vegan, use a vanilla plant based protein of choice

✦ 1 heaped tbs of Born Cultured natural coconut yoghurt

✦ 1-2 tbs of Tropeaka cacao powder

✦ 1 tsp of Tropeaka immunity powder

✦ 4 ice cubes

✦ 3 strawberries thinly sliced (*optional for glass decoration)

METHOD:

✦ Place all ingredients (except strawberry slices) into a high speed blender (I use a Vitamix) and blend until completely smooth. Take each strawberry slice and arrange it around the inside of the glass. Pour the smoothie directly into the centre of the glass and fill to the top. Decorate with more strawberries, melted vegan chocolate or coconut shreds if desired!! ENJOY!! ♡
